Minnesota experienced a significant heat event on July 27, 2026, with temperatures reaching 100°F (37.8°C) for the first time since June 2022, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The Twin Cities also recorded a near-record dew point of 81°F (27.2°C) early Monday morning, marking the most humid conditions in 15 years.

Impact & Risks

The extreme heat and humidity posed risks for heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Outdoor workers and individuals engaging in physical activities were advised to take precautions. The high dew point also contributed to discomfort and increased the risk of dehydration. While the heat advisory has expired, elevated temperatures through Thursday may continue to strain cooling systems and energy resources.
