US · Published Aug 31, 2026
A late summer heat wave has settled over mid-Missouri, with temperatures expected to remain in the mid to upper 90s (35-37°C) throughout the week.
According to KOMU 8 Meteorologist Matt Beckwith, the heat wave is likely to persist into the weekend and potentially extend into the following week.

Impact & Risks

The heat wave poses risks for heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures and heat indices exceeding 100°F (37.8°C) can lead to dehydration and heat exhaustion. Outdoor workers and individuals engaging in strenuous activities are also at heightened risk. Residents in mid-Missouri are advised to take precautions as the heat advisories remain in effect.
