IN · Published Oct 12, 2026
• Mumbai is experiencing heatwave conditions for the second time in October, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing warnings for isolated areas in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri.
• On October 12, Santacruz recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C, which is 5.1°C above normal, while Colaba reached 36.5°C, 3.9°C above normal.

Impact & Risks

The heatwave conditions are likely to cause discomfort, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents in affected areas may experience dehydration and heat-related illnesses if precautions are not taken. Farmers in regions expecting unseasonal rain and gusty winds have been advised to protect crops and livestock to minimise damage.
