Impact & Risks

While Subtropical Storm Josephine is not expected to make landfall, it is generating large swells that are impacting much of the eastern seaboard of the United States and parts of Atlantic Canada. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Additionally, minor to locally moderate coastal flooding is ongoing along portions of the U.S. Mid-Atlantic coast, particularly during high tide. Gale-force wind gusts are also possible along parts of the northeastern U.S. coast through Thursday. Residents in affected areas should remain cautious and monitor local updates.
