• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the landfall process is expected to conclude within hours. The cyclone originated from a depression over the Bay of Bengal and intensified into a deep depression before becoming a cyclonic storm. It is now moving inland, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds to coastal Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha. Rainfall of up to 263 mm has been recorded in several districts, including Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram. Impact & Risks

Cyclone Arnab poses significant risks to coastal communities, agriculture, and infrastructure. Heavy rainfall may lead to waterlogging, local flooding, and disruption of movement in low-lying areas. Gale winds are expected to damage weak structures, uproot trees, and disrupt electricity and transport services. Coastal flooding due to a storm surge of 1–1.5 metres above astronomical tide is likely in Andhra Pradesh. Agricultural losses, particularly to standing paddy and vegetable crops, are anticipated in southern Odisha. Fishing activities have been suspended, and over 4,800 boats have returned to safety. Vulnerable communities in low-lying areas may face displacement, requiring evacuation and relief measures.
