• The remnants of Severe Cyclonic Storm Murasu, which crossed the Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narasapur early on November 3, 2026, with wind speeds of 100-110 kmph and gusts up to 120 kmph, are causing widespread rainfall across southern and eastern India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for very heavy rainfall in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on November
• Other regions, including Rayalaseema, Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, are also expected to experience significant rainfall. Southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and South Interior Karnataka are forecast to receive scattered to widespread showers over the coming days.

Impact & Risks

The heavy rainfall poses risks of waterlogging, flooding, and disruption to daily life in affected areas, particularly in coastal Andhra Pradesh, where gusty winds may also cause damage to infrastructure and trees. South Chhattisgarh and Odisha could experience localised flooding due to widespread showers. The uprooting of trees and potential road blockages, as seen in Bapatla-Muttayapalem, may hinder transportation and emergency services. Residents in low-lying areas are at higher risk of flooding and should remain vigilant.
