• Cyclone Murasu is expected to make landfall near Ongole in Andhra Pradesh late on Monday night, with wind speeds of 100-110 km/h and gusts reaching up to 120 km/h.
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast the cyclone to cross the south Andhra Pradesh coast between Nellore and Narsapur from 11:30 PM IST on Monday to 4:00 AM IST on Tuesday.

Impact & Risks

The cyclone poses a significant risk to coastal districts, including Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, and Krishna. Damage to infrastructure, including the potential destruction of 6,000 to 8,000 electrical poles, could disrupt power supply in the region. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea, and officials in coastal areas have been instructed to remain on high alert. The storm follows Cyclone Arnab, which struck the same region last week, causing six fatalities and significant damage to homes and crops.
