Targeted grazing has shown promise in reducing wildfire risks by lowering the amount of flammable vegetation, particularly in grasslands and shrublands. However, it is not a universal solution and may not be effective in all areas. Challenges include the cost of implementation, the need for precise timing, and potential environmental concerns. Despite these challenges, the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management are advocating for expanded use of this method as part of the 2025 Grazing Action Plan.
