Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the ongoing floods in Bihar a 'national disaster'.
In a letter to the PM, Yadav requested a Rs 5,000-crore relief package to support rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

Impact & Risks

The floods have caused significant damage to public infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land, leaving millions of people struggling to access basic necessities such as food, clean water, and medical supplies. The situation is particularly dire in cut-off areas, where additional rescue resources, including boats and helicopters, are urgently needed. Farmers, labourers, and livestock owners face severe economic losses, and the risk of waterborne diseases is increasing.
