• An awareness camp was organised in Uchapind village, Phagwara, by the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department under the direction of Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner Akash Bansal.
• The event aimed to educate farmers on the environmental and health hazards of stubble burning and promote scientific residue management practices.

Impact & Risks

Stubble burning contributes to severe air pollution, harming human health and the environment. It also destroys beneficial soil microorganisms, reducing fertility and increasing the need for chemical fertilisers. Continued burning could lead to irreversible damage to soil health and the environment, posing long-term risks to agriculture and public health in the region.
