Above Normal Temperatures and Below Normal Rainfall Forecast for India
• The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released its temperature and rainfall forecast for the week of 24 to 30 September
• Maximum temperatures are expected to be 2-4°C above normal in parts of Rajasthan, while many areas in Central, North, and East India may experience below-normal maximum temperatures by 2-4°C. Rainfall is likely to be isolated to scattered across Northeast, East, and adjoining central and peninsular regions, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Northeast India, coastal Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala. Overall, rainfall across the country is predicted to be below normal during this period. The weekly average minimum temperature is expected to be above normal by 1-3°C in parts of West and South Peninsular India, while remaining nearly normal elsewhere.

The forecasted above-normal temperatures in Rajasthan may lead to heat stress and increased energy demand for cooling. Conversely, below-normal temperatures in Central, North, and East India could provide temporary relief from heat but may impact agricultural activities.
