The Ramgarh administration and Patratu Thermal Power Station (PTPS) authorities have issued a flood alert for villages downstream along the Damodar River.
Continuous heavy rainfall over the past 48 hours has pushed the Patratu dam's water level to 1,326.5 RL, just 1 ft below its maximum capacity of 1,327.5 RL.

Impact & Risks

The rising water levels pose a significant risk to downstream villages along the Damodar River. Residents in low-lying areas are at risk of flooding, and sudden water releases could exacerbate the situation. Livestock and property in these areas are also vulnerable. Rescue teams, including NDRF personnel, are on standby to assist in case of emergencies.
