During heatwaves, the circulation of sea breezes weakens, reducing the inflow of cleaner marine air. This stagnation traps pollutants near the surface, and intense sunlight accelerates the formation of ground-level ozone. The study found that ozone levels in Andhra Pradesh can rise by 14% to 25% above the World Health Organization's recommended limits during these periods, posing significant health risks.
