Rising temperature anomalies consistently reduce surface water and vegetation health in India. Even slight increases in temperature lead to a 0.9% drop in surface water index values and over a 4% decline in vegetation index values. Warmer periods accelerate evapotranspiration, causing soils and shallow water bodies to dry faster, which in turn stresses vegetation and reduces water availability.
