A section of the Ganga Expressway ramp in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, caved in on Tuesday morning following heavy rainfall.
The incident occurred near milestone 423 km at Dahi Chowki on the Unnao-Raebareli-bound carriageway, affecting the ramp connecting the expressway to a food plaza.

Impact & Risks

The cave-in disrupted traffic on the affected ramp, though the main expressway carriageway remained unaffected. Waterlogging at the toll plaza posed additional challenges for commuters. The incident highlights the vulnerability of infrastructure to heavy rainfall, particularly in areas with inadequate drainage systems. High-voltage power transmission lines near the toll plaza added to the complexity of repair efforts, necessitating safety restrictions.
