US · Published Aug 26, 2026
The AirNow system is actively monitoring air quality across the United States, providing real-time updates on the Air Quality Index (AQI).
The AQI measures levels of ozone and particle pollution, with values categorized into six levels: Good (0-50), Moderate (51-100), Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101-150), Unhealthy (151-200), Very Unhealthy (201-300), and Hazardous (301+).

Impact & Risks

Elevated AQI levels can pose health risks, particularly for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions. Areas with AQI values above 100 may experience adverse health effects, with risks increasing as levels rise. Hazardous conditions (AQI 301+) can affect the entire population, necessitating immediate precautions.
