• A low-pressure area has formed over the east-central and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation. According to the Meteorological Department, this system is expected to intensify into a depression by October 24, a deep depression by October 25, and eventually a cyclonic storm by the morning of October
• The system is forecast to move west-northwestwards, heading towards the north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining south Odisha coasts over the subsequent two days. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has also reported that the northeast monsoon is contributing to scattered heavy rainfall across the state.

Impact & Risks

The developing weather system poses a potential risk of heavy rainfall and lightning in several districts of Andhra Pradesh, including Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati. Light to moderate rainfall is also expected in other districts such as Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Krishna. The APSDMA has advised residents to remain cautious, particularly avoiding standing under trees or near large hoardings during lightning events. The system's intensification into a cyclonic storm could bring further risks to coastal areas.
