Marine Weather Advisory Issued for Southeast Alaska Waters
US · Published Oct 18, 2026
• The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a detailed marine forecast for Southeast Alaska, highlighting varying wind speeds and sea conditions across the region.
• A broad low-pressure system south of Yakutat is weakening, with high pressure briefly moving in.

Impact & Risks

The forecast indicates hazardous marine conditions, particularly from Monday night through Tuesday night. Strong winds and elevated seas pose risks to vessels navigating the Gulf, Gulf Coast, and Inner Channel waters. Gusts up to 55 knots and seas as high as 21 feet could lead to dangerous conditions for small craft and larger vessels alike. Patchy fog may reduce visibility, further complicating navigation in southern inner channels.
