Search underway for six missing crew members
A search operation is currently in progress in the Pacific Ocean, near the Northern Mariana Islands, following the capsizing of a cargo ship during Typhoon Sinlaku. Six crew members are missing, prompting a coordinated search effort led by the U.S. Coast Guard, with support from international partners including Guam, Japan, and New Zealand. The cargo ship, named Mariana, was confirmed to have overturned by an HC-130 Hercules crew from the U.S. Air Force 31st Rescue Squadron. The ship experienced engine failure as the typhoon approached, ultimately leading to the capsizing. Debris, including a partially submerged life raft, has been discovered approximately 110 miles northeast of the overturned vessel. The search area has expanded to cover over 99,000 square miles, yet the crew members remain unaccounted for.
