In Ohio, the emergence of the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) poses a significant threat to fruit trees and crops, prompting a 15-year-old, Melody Lin, to develop an AI-based tool to combat this invasive species. Lacking natural predators, SLF can devastate Ohio's agriculture, making Lin's innovation crucial. Her AI tool, developed as part of her local 4-H chapter, earned her second place in the National 4-H AI in Agriculture Challenge.
