Storms Expected to End Weekend in Arkansas with Severe Weather Risk
US · Published May 11, 2026
After a warm and dry Saturday, Arkansas is bracing for showers and thunderstorms on Mother's Day.
According to 40/29 News, storms are expected to develop late Saturday night in Oklahoma and move into northwest Arkansas and the River Valley by early Sunday morning.
The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather in areas along and south of I-40, with a slight risk further south.

Why It's Important?

The storms could disrupt Mother's Day plans across Arkansas, particularly in the River Valley and southern parts of the state. Damaging winds are the primary concern, with small hail also possible. While the severe weather risk is lower in northwest Arkansas, residents should remain cautious as conditions may change. Power outages and minor property damage are potential risks.
